Manhattan Apartment Undergoes Breathtaking Renovation

When a client of Specht Harpman Architects asked them to head up their Manhattan apartment renovation, the team knew they were faced with quite a unique situation.

Though the loft apartment is just 425 square feet, it also boasts an impressive 24 feet of vertical space. How would they maximize this space?

The team’s solution was a series of what they call “living platforms.” As one moves throughout the small Manhattan home, they encounter a series of different planes, each distinct from the last.

At the entrance you’ll find a compact bathroom and small but modern kitchen. A quick step takes you into the living room, where you can gaze out onto the cosmopolitan city through its large windows.

Head up the stairs (under which there’s many clever storage drawers) to the lofted bedroom. Finally, another small staircase found in the loft leads you to your own private rooftop garden — truly a rare gem in a city like Manhattan.

Take a look at the renovation below, including photos from before the incredible makeover.
